While looking at some images from Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli's latest Haute Couture collection for Valentino, I couldn't get the words "a Garden of Eden in cyberworld" out of my head. Granted that Style.com's Sarah Mower used this phrase as a synopsis for the duo's third couture collection for the house, she was definitely onto something. Images from Style.com.
Instantly, I thought of "Space Cases," an 90s Nickelodeon TV show that I loved as a child, starring Walter Emanuel Jones, better known as the "Black Ranger" from the original Power Rangers. In season two of the show, the cast crash land their space ship onto a planet that is similar to Earth and the pieces from Chiuri and Piccioli's collections blend right in (if not literally). Watch the clip and imagine a young native woman appearing, alongside her distinguished mother, clad in Valentino Haute Couture. Or even, imagine if the ship's android, Thelma, got a new wardrobe.
