Elie Saab in Your House

Elie Saab after showing his Fall 2009 Haute Couture collection

Elie Saab must be quite happy right now. Two major celebrities attended two different awards shows, each with different audiences, in pieces from his Fall 2009 Haute Couture collection. First, Marion Cotillard wore a one shouldered, beaded and feathered, short dress to the Golden Globes. Then, Rihanna turned up at the Grammys, a week later, in a feathered, beaded and draped floor-length gown. Mr. Saab is having a wonderful moment with this latest bit of exposure, in addition to having two new clients in his books.

Grammy Trivia

The 52nd Grammy Awards just finished airing and I noticed an interesting fact. At tonight's ceremony, Beyonce set the record for most Grammys won in a single night by a female artist, at six. I knew that Norah Jones previously won five in a single night, in 2003, but I didn't know if there were any other women to have this honor. After some time, here are the women that have each won five Grammys in a single night.

Lauryn Hill set the record at the 41st Grammys, in 1999.

Alicia Keys tied Lauryn Hill at the 44th Grammys, in 2002.

Norah Jones joined the group during the 45th Grammys, in 2003.

Beyonce won her first set of five at the 46th Grammys, in 2004.

Amy Winehouse also won five, at the 50th Grammys, in 2008.
